Helping Your Young Pet Grow Strong and Healthy
Puppy Care
At Green Family Veterinary Practice, we adore puppies — but what we love even more is helping them get the essential care they need for a healthy start in life.
We recommend scheduling your puppy’s first visit with us as soon as possible. During this initial appointment, we’ll perform a thorough nose-to-tail exam to establish a health baseline and check for any hidden issues. Catching potential concerns early can make a big difference in your pup’s long-term well-being.
We’ll also create a personalized vaccination plan tailored to your puppy’s age, vaccination history, and lifestyle. Some of the core vaccines we commonly recommend include (but aren’t limited to):
- Distemper
- Hepatitis
- Parvovirus
- Rabies
- Bordetella
Kitten Care
Is there anything sweeter than gazing into the bright, curious eyes of a new kitten? How about the confidence that comes with knowing your little one is healthy and protected?
At Green Family Veterinary Practice, we believe early wellness exams are key to giving kittens the best start in life. These visits allow us to perform a full physical exam, create a personalized vaccination plan, and run routine tests to ensure your kitten is growing and developing properly.
Have questions about vaccines or tests? Our team is always here to walk you through the process, answering any concerns before moving forward. After all, caring for your new kitten is a partnership between you and our hospital — and we’re with you every step of the way.
Spay/Neuter Procedure
We highly recommend spaying and neutering for all dogs and cats to help reduce unwanted behaviors, curb sexual instincts, and lower the risk of infections and diseases. Our experienced veterinarians perform these procedures with the utmost care, ensuring your pet is closely monitored, safe, and comfortable throughout surgery and recovery.
Neutering is the surgical removal of the testicles in male pets. This procedure helps reduce aggressive behaviors, minimizes the urge to roam, and prevents conditions like testicular cancer and prostate disease. Before surgery, we conduct a thorough physical exam and blood tests to ensure your pet’s safety while under anesthesia. Recovery is usually straightforward, with minimal aftercare.
Spaying involves removing the ovaries and uterus in female pets, preventing heat cycles and eliminating the possibility of pregnancy. Ideally performed between 4–6 months of age — and before the first heat — spaying offers significant health benefits, such as preventing uterine infections and ovarian or uterine tumors. It also reduces the risk of malignant breast cancer by up to 90% when done early. As with neutering, we perform a pre-operative physical exam and blood tests to ensure a safe procedure and smooth recovery.
